Article marketing is one of the best ways to promote your site or market your product. Many people wonder if article marketing is still effective in this day and age since times have changed and competition is fiercer than ever. The truth is, it still works now just as it worked then. It is a very powerful technique because it has a snowball effect when it comes to profits. It starts off slow and small but builds on itself with consistency.
1) Length
Let’s take a minute to talk about the proper length of your articles. How long do they need to be? Well, they have to be long enough that you can get your point across and that the article directories accept them, but they have to be short enough to not lose your readers’ focus or interest. Your best bet would be to aim somewhere between 400 and 600 words. If your article is 1000 words, cut it in half and rewrite it to make each article approximately 500 words.
2) Formatting
People don’t like to read long paragraphs. In today’s time, everyone has such a short attention span that if you can’t say what they want to hear within the first few sentences, they will just skim through your paragraph or even your entire article. In order to keep their attention, you have to focus on the way you are formatting your article. Try to keep the paragraphs short (people are more likely to read through a bunch of little paragraphs than a few long ones) and try to use bullet points when you can.
3) Resource Box
Your resource box is another very important aspect in article marketing. Try to make it flow with your article so that it doesn’t throw everything off balance. For example, don’t put your biography in your resource box. Let’s be honest here, no one cares. The people who are reading your articles are probably only after the information you can offer so why not offer them even more at the end as an incentive to click on your link? Let them know where they can find additional information by providing your website link. It generally has a much higher CTR than talking about yourself.
4) Various Directories
When you are article marketing, do not submit only to one article directory, no matter how wonderful that directory may be. Make accounts with about 5 top article directories to start with and try to submit one article daily to each directory (5 articles total). Covering more ground is more effective than just working with one article directory.
5) Consistency
In order to really get the snowball effect out of article marketing, you really need to apply yourself and be consistent. This technique won’t work if you only write a few; you have to keep producing articles day after day even if you don’t feel like it. Consistency is key here. Try to write 3 to 5 articles a day if you have a full-time job and 10 articles a day if you don’t. These can add up in quite a hurry so use this to your advantage and write!
