Important Steps to Follow When Building a Website

By

So you’ve decided to make a website! Congratulations! You will be joining the masses of webmasters and you can get traffic from all over the world! Now that you want to build your own website, you have to decide if you want to hire someone or if you want to build it yourself. You also have to choose a domain name and decide if you'll be in a competitive niche or not. Regardless of what you decide, there are some important steps that you need to follow when building a website:

Website Hosting

Before you do anything, you need to decide what kind of website hosting you’re going to get. Different website hosting plans offer different services so you have to choose the one that has what you need. If you are just going to make a simple, standard website, I would recommend Aweber or Hostgator.

Template

Are you going to get a general template for your website or are you going to make you own? When searching for a template or creating your own there are several things to keep in mind:

First, you have to make sure that the layout is simple and easy to navigate around so that your visitors don’t get frustrated and leave. Make sure that you make it easy and organized for them so they can get to wherever they want to go.

Secondly, make sure your template is properly color coordinated. Although this doesn’t sound like a necessary step, you have to keep this in mind. You know how sometimes you come across a website that has a dark blue background and purple writing and you can’t read a single thing? That’s what you don’t want or your visitors will leave before they even read a paragraph. Keep color coding in mind as you make your website template.

And lastly, if you plan on making money with your website by using Google Adsense onto it, then you have to decide what size ads you will be placing because you have to make sure they fit with little to no changes made to the template.

Content

The last thing you need to think about is your content. What is your website going to be about? How will you present the information to your visitors? Do you know a significant amount about the topic you are choosing to work on? Google rates those websites which have constantly updated pages higher than those who haven’t been touched in years, so before you build a website you need to consider if you are ready to take on the responsibility of updating it on a regular basis.

There are a lot of things to think about when building a website, but if you follow the 3 steps above, it shouldn’t be a problem for you.
